Italian supercar maker Lamborghini is taking a dive into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The latest project, named the Space Key, is a piece that was developed by a lone artist. The NFT is an exclusive piece of digital art that can be accessed through a QR code. The project is limited to five pieces and will be auctioned off in the coming weeks.

The Space Key is made from carbon fiber composite material that Lamborghini smuggled to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a research project. Once it returned to earth, the carbon fiber was crafted into this distinctive artwork. The physical element has an NFT serial code that connects to the digital artwork via QR code on the rear.

For those not in the aware, NFTs are unique identifiers that are recorded on a distributed blockchain ledger, and linked to an digital asset such as a photograph, video or any other recording. This allows owners to ensure the authenticity, scarcity, and the traceability of their tokens on the internet.

Working with NFT PRO White-label NFT solution for companies, Lamborghini is taking this unique approach to art to the next level. Over the next few weeks, Lamborghini will be sharing details about the exciting project, including the name of the unknown artist as well as a timeline for the auction.

Following multiple social media posts that tease some kind of space-themed item, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini has stepped into the realm of tokens that are non-fungible (NFT) by launching an exclusive project dubbed Space Key. The NFT was developed in collaboration with an unknown artist and will be auctioned within a couple of weeks. It is a piece that's made of the latest carbon fiber composite material that was sent to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2019 as part an investigation project. Carbon fiber was 3D-printed for the base of every Space Key. Each Space Key is connected to a unique, digital artwork by way of a QR code. Five Space Keys have been produced.

NFTs are unique identifiers that can be stored on distributed ledgers such as the Blockchain and tied to digital assets like pictures. This is a hot topic for people with more money than they have common sense. It was just a matter of time until automakers decided to take advantage of.

Space Key is made up of five units. It was developed by using a carbon fiber composite. It was delivered to the ISS in the year 2019. Each NFT will be connected to an exclusive digital artwork created by the same artist by using QR codes on the back of the carbon fiber component. More details will be released in the coming weeks and days, including the artist's name as well as the digital artwork, and the method of purchasing one of the five Space Keys.

The digital artwork

After several weeks of social media posts hinting at it, luxury automobile manufacturer Lamborghini has finally announced its first non-fungible token (NFT) project. It's dubbed the Space Key, it consists of five items that unlock an exclusive digital artwork NFT created by an artist yet to be identified. The project was developed in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm) the "collector's work" is limited to only five units and will soon be auctioned off.

The core of each Space Key is a block made of a high-tech carbon fire composite material that was sent to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a research project. After returning to Earth it was stamped with a QR code, which connects it to the digital component of the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that occurs at different times when the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. Over 600 million pixels each of the five images, which were captured by photographer Fabian Oefner.

Oefner utilized a balloon with a camera to capture each of the individual shots, which were then combined into the final image. The result is an out of this world photograph that captures both the beauty of the Earth and the futuristic, hyper-realistic picture of the car erupting from it. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned off in the near future, but there's no precise date or time yet.
